Kensington Market

On Saturday I had the opportunity to visit Kensington Market for the first time.  Now you all know I love a road trip and finding the quaint and quirky and Kensington Market did not disappoint.  After driving through rather stormy weather we arrived in Toronto to sunshine and all the glorious colours that make up this market district.

Wikipedia says... Kensington Market is a distinctive multicultural neighbourhood in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Market is an older neighbourhood and one of the city's most well-known. In November 2006, it was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.Robert Fulford wrote in 1999 that "Kensington today is as much a legend as a district. The (partly) outdoor market has probably been photographed more often than any other site in Toronto."

and photograph it I did... we spent the afternoon wandering the streets that make up this unique district, the sights, the sounds, the colour are almost an assault on the senses - there is so much to see and do, it was sensory overload (in a good way)... I could have shot a thousand images in the span of 1 block there was that much to see.  It was fascinating looking through the images when we got back - seeing things in the images that we didn't even notice when we were actually there.  Kensington Market is my new favourite place, and if I wasn't such a "small town" girl I would move there - permanent like and spend my days wandering, exploring and capturing all the beauty and rawness.
